Promoting the Value of Apprenticeship Program to Employers

Literacy and Essential Skills Outreach

The 1000 Islands Region Workforce Development Board coordinated a multi-media presentation to promote the value of Literacy and Essential Skills programs to employers. This entertaining video underscores the value of hiring employees with the right essential skills.

South Eastern Ontario Employer Diversity Awards

As part of the Internationally Educated Professionals Conference, the local board is coordinating a South Eastern Ontario Employer Diversity Award, to recognize and celebrate cultural inclusiveness in the local workplace. Nominations for the award will be solicited and accepted until February 20, 2010. The award will be presented at the end of the Internationally Educated Professionals Conference on March 1, 2010.

Employer Symposium 2010 – Internationally Educated Professionals Conference

The 1000 Islands Region Workforce Development Board is co-partnering in the coordination of an Internationally Educated Professionals Conference scheduled for Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Four Points by Sheraton in Kingston, Ontario. This one-day event is a free professional development opportunity for business owners, managers, human resource professionals and internationally educated professionals. This collection of 19 Municipality Community Profile Pamphlets utilizes newly released 2006 census data to provide detailed information about the individual municipalities within the area served by the 1000 Islands Region Workforce Development Board in comparison to the province of Ontario. Multi-Cultural Campaign – Highlighting the Benefits of Immigrant Workers
